Donald E. Loeb, Principal and Co-Founder
Donald is a Principal and co-founder of Avanti Properties Group. For more than 35 years, he has been on Avanti’s Investment Committee and has overseen Avanti’s investor relations, finance, and administration. Donald is also Chairman of Avanti Investment Advisors.
Donald sits on the Dean's Advisory Council of the Schulich School of Business at York University and on the Advisory Board of Schulich's Program in Real Property and Infrastructure. Donald also serves as a director of the offshore funds of Bardin Hill Investment Partners of New York. He is a past Board Chairman and Director of Humber River Hospital, where he was most recently Chairman of its Building Committee and responsible for overseeing the construction of North America's first fully digital hospital, a $1.7 billion, 656 bed, 1.8 million square foot facility in northwest Toronto.
Donald received a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and an Honors BA in business administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University.
Marvin Shapiro, Principal
Marvin, a Principal of Avanti Properties Group and President of Avanti Investment Advisors, Inc., joined Avanti in 1990 as an acquisitions partner to help capitalize on the land-investment opportunities presented by the real estate downturn of the early 1990s. Since then, he has coordinated or executed over 140 site acquisitions across 20 different markets. Marvin also has responsibility for oversight of market research efforts and financing activities, including extensive joint venture negotiations. He remains central to Avanti’s strategic planning relative to market selection and deal structuring.
Prior to joining Avanti, Marvin was Vice President at Chemical Bank specifically Chemical Realty Corporation, with responsibility for real estate activity in the Southeast and Southwest U.S. He has an MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a BA with High Honors in Economics from the University of Michigan.
Andrew Dubill, Principal
Andrew is a Principal of Avanti Properties Group and Executive Vice President of Avanti Investment Advisors, Inc., having joined Avanti in 2008 as an acquisitions officer to capitalize on the nationwide investment opportunities in wake of the Great Recession. Since then, he has been involved with the acquisition, management, and sale of more than $1 billion of land investments, including the more than 45,000 lots in Avanti’s current residential holdings alone. His responsibilities cover every aspect of an investment’s life cycle, from sourcing, contracting, due diligence, acquisition, development, and management to the negotiation of the terms and conditions of disposition.
He was previously the staff director of the National War Powers Commission, co-chaired by former Secretaries of State James Baker and Warren Christopher, an associate with the law firm K & L Gates, and a speechwriter in the United States Senate.
He has a JD from the University of Virginia and an AB from Princeton (Magna cum laude).
Ethan Siller, Principal
Ethan is a Principal of Avanti Properties Group, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of Avanti Investment Advisors, Inc., and a member of Avanti’s Investment Committee. He has been a member of Avanti’s senior management team since 2014, focusing on operating strategy and administration across the firm’s real estate, capital markets, and finance functions. Prior to joining Avanti, Ethan practiced securities law in the capital markets group of the international law firm Shearman & Sterling LLP.
Ethan holds a JD from Stanford Law School, an MA from Yale University, and a BA from Columbia University.
Ryan Lefkowitz, Principal
Ryan joined Avanti in 2013 as a member of the acquisitions team. He has over 20 years of experience in the real estate acquisition, development and finance arena. His responsibilities have crossed transactions yielding more than $15 billion of value, including more than 10,000 single family dwelling units, thousands of multifamily units and millions of square feet of commercial flex, retail and office space in multiple markets nationwide. After five years in commercial banking in New York and Chicago, Ryan joined a family-owned well-established real estate development company in Florida, focusing efforts on the acquisition, entitlement and capitalization of residential master-planned communities. During the recession as new development opportunities were impacted, Ryan joined a commercial developer specializing in GSA-leased build-to-suit properties throughout the southeast. Together, they developed and operated a $50 million portfolio of facilities housing the Social Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security and Department of Veterans Affairs.
Ryan received a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan.
