Patricia VanDerveer
Vice President, Research and Investments
Patsy is responsible for research on local property markets for Avanti's acquisitions as well as macroeconomic and demographic analysis of Avanti's targeted markets. She joined Avanti in 1995 and has over 30 years’ experience in real estate analysis and market feasibility studies.
Patsy has a Master's degree in city planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a BA from Hollins College.
Dawn Rosen
Vice President, Finance
Dawn has overseen Avanti’s financial functions, including financial analysis, reporting, control, and compliance, for over 20 years. She was previously the controller of a publishing firm.
Dawn has a Certified Management Accountant designation (currently known as Chartered Professional Accountant) from the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario and a BBA from Mount Saint Vincent University.
Fernanda Haido Magro
Director, Finance
Fernanda joined Avanti in 2018 to expand and streamline financial functions related to planning, reporting, modeling, and analysis. Since then, she has contributed to the firm’s investment and acquisition strategies, deal structuring, and financial management of ongoing real estate projects. Fernanda has over 20 years of experience in real estate and investment banking. Prior to joining Avanti, she served as Vice President of Investment Banking at Morgan Keegan and Prager, Sealy and Co. Fernanda has experience in all major areas of tax-exempt and taxable municipal finance. She specialized in infrastructure financing for special tax districts and was directly responsible for structuring more than 50 transactions totaling approximately $1 billion of Florida tax-exempt debt.
Fernanda has a MS in Finance from the University of Florida and a BS in Business with highest honors from Florida Institute of Technology.
Bernadette Sostillio
Vice President, Accounting and Controller
Bernadette joined Avanti in 1998 and has since been involved in all accounting functions at the firm, including the preparation of quarterly financial reports and annual audited financial statements. She became Controller in 2010 and was recently promoted to Vice President. Bernadette is supported by a staff of six and oversees accounting for all of Avanti’s land investment funds and direct investments. She is also responsible for managing Avanti’s relationships with external auditors, tax consultants, and accounting system providers.
Bernadette has a BA in accounting and a BA in English Literature, both from the University of Central Florida.
Laura Forbes
Financial Analyst
Laura joined Avanti in 2003 and is responsible for financial analysis and reporting. Prior to joining Avanti, she was a consultant working with various investment firms as project manager. She has been in the real estate business for over 15 years and was a senior manager responsible for financial operations for a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management, the property investment and real estate merchant banking firm.
Laura has a Certified Management Accountant designation (currently known as Chartered Professional Accountant) from the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario and a BMath from The University of Waterloo.
